I got a toilet seat reducer a couple of weeks ago because the kid is getting heavier and squirmy - not too great a combo for a classic EC hold (behind the knees, facing the bowl). He’d taken nicely to it, but only for #1. This morning, he finally (in the parlance I learned from SteenFox’s twitter feed this week) “made groceries” on the reducer. I did a little dance.
His night time patterns are becoming increasingly reliable. He goes once around 11:00pm and he can hold it until around 5:00am. Then again at 7:00am. I still have to pop out a boob between those hours (because HK refuses to sleep for too long without a snack), but at least I don’t have to wake up to pee him all the time. Because that would suck. HARD.
My life should not be filled with this much talk about my kid’s elimination habits, but I really wish more people would get up on this EC life. Yes, he still uses diapers (until I shrink down those Gerber training pants) but it’s great that he doesn’t need to use them all of the time…and that my house doesn’t have to smell like shitty diapers…and that I don’t have to throw away diaper sausages…or wash poopy cloth diapers…
To my pregnant readers and those with young babies, I urge you to at least give it a try. COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
